The Oxbow Eco-Center is a nature preserve and an education center in Port St. Lucie, FL. It is home to a variety of animals, including alligators, eagles, otters, and bobcats. Visitors can enjoy nature walks, canoeing, and kayaking on the preserve's trails and waterways. The eco-center was founded in 1995 by the City of Port St. Lucie's Environmental Protection Board, which still plays a major role in its management today.


Experience and amenities 


There are many activities you can do while at the eco-center. You can either explore on your own or take a guided nature walk. There are also canoeing and kayaking opportunities. If you have kids, there is a playground and a petting zoo with animals like goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. The Oxbow Eco-Center also offers different amenities listed below:


  • Nature Center: The nature center is an interactive space that serves as the hub for all of Oxbow Eco-Center programming. You can find information about what you can do at the eco-center, whether it be something inside or outside. There are also different activities you may participate in here.
  • Biking Trails: If you feel like getting a workout in while having fun, then Oxbow Eco-Center offers about 10 miles of biking trails, from easy ones to difficult ones. You are welcome to bike here at any time.
  • Picnic Area: Hungry? Oxbow Eco-Center offers several picnic tables with grills for visitors who have packed their own food to cook.
  • Wildlife Observation: A variety of animals can be seen at Oxbow Eco-Center, including deer, turkeys, hawks, and owls. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled while exploring!


The Oxbow Eco-Center is a tranquil haven of sorts. It's a nice little getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life, while still being only minutes away from civilization. Overall, you can enjoy a fun day at the park while learning about native plants and animals. People of all ages will be able to appreciate the serene atmosphere here. If you wish to visit Oxbow Eco-Center, they are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and closed on Mondays and Sundays.
